After a distinguished career in both the legal field, and in the IT industry, in late 2011, I came to a personal turning point when I found myself stricken with partial paralysis from the waist down while on a business trip to NYC. Apparently, I had a Staph infection that had somehow attached itself to my spine, requiring emergency surgery. Unfortunately, this emergency surgery ended up being the first of seven in total within the next five months, and a spine held up by steel rods and screws. After a hard year of recovery, with the help of my wonderful and patient wife, who is also an RN with over 25 years experience, I got back on my feet again. That being said however, it soon became clear that my professional career was over and after several appeals, was found to be fully and permanently disabled.

While I was initially angry and sad that I was being put out to pasture at what I thought was well before my expiration date of 51, as they say, when a door closes, another opens. I soon felt the calling to become a Wedding Officiant and be a part of making dreams come true for others like my marriage has been for me.

In 2007, I became certified as a Holistic Life Coach and in 2015, I became ordained as an Interfaith Minister and a Secular Humanist Rabbi with the Esoteric Interfaith Church, and a Certified Humanist Celebrant with the Society of Celebrations.
